Leave Your Legacy.

Pony Power is proud to have celebrated our 20th Anniversary in 2020. We went from being a very small grassroots operation to planting deep roots in our community. We serve hundreds of participants a year from all walks of life - anyone who can benefit from time on the farm and being in nature with horses. Hundreds more volunteers have a safe place to help others while also benefiting from our farm environment. We have heard time and again that we matter to our community.

By including Pony Power in your plans, you can leave your legacy on the farm and help us help thousands more people in the next twenty years and beyond.

What is planned giving?

Planned giving is a major charitable contribution made in lifetime or at death that is part of a donor’s overall financial and estate plan. Anybody can give a planned gift. You don’t have to be wealthy to make a significant impact. A gift of any size helps ensure Pony Power’s future and allows us to continue to use horses to help people.

Why make a planned gift?

  • You’ll have the comfort of knowing you helped secure Pony Power’s future.

  • You can reduce income tax and/or avoid capital gains tax. Most gifts from your IRA or donations of stocks are tax free.

  • You don’t have to pay anything now. Depending on what kind of gift you choose to make, your money remains in your control for your lifetime.

  • You have the freedom to change your mind. You can modify your plans at any time if your circumstances change.

  • Your gift may reduce the tax burden of your heirs.

  • You will make a major impact on many lives while leaving a lasting legacy.

Types of planned gifts

There are many ways to make a planned gift and most are very simple. Here are a few ways:

Bequests

Leave money to Pony Power through your will or trust. This can be a specific dollar amount or a percentage of your estate.

Gifts via Beneficiary Designation on your Retirement Account

Make Pony Power the beneficiary on your retirement plan account (such as your IRA or 401k). Most retirement plans are taxed, but a charitable donation from one is not.

Gift via Beneficiary Designation on your Life Insurance Policy

Make Pony Power the beneficiary of a policy that has outlasted its original intended purpose. Instead of letting your policy lapse or cashing out and having to pay taxes, make a tax-free charitable gift.

IRA Distribution

Individuals age 70 1/2 and over can make distributions up to $100,000 a year to Pony Power directly from their IRA at any time. These gifts count towards your required minimum distribution and are tax free.

Donor Advised Funds

Make Pony Power the beneficiary of your donor advised fund. You can also designate that we receive a percentage of the total remaining assets in the account, while giving the rest to family or other loved ones.
