We are honored to announce that the Paramus Rotary surprised Pony Power with a $12,500 check right before 2017 began. What a wonderful way to ring in the New Year! We received this gift precisely as we were planning ways to cover the cost to work with 12 children over 6 sessions from Bleshman and Washington South Schools of Bergen County Special Services. Both of these schools happen to be located in Paramus, making this a perfect match.
Pony Power has partnered with these schools for over 15 years and is committed to ensuring their students have access to horseback riding and horse-assisted activities. These groups were originally funded by a State grant written in collaboration with the county. However, this funding dried up for Bergen County only. Without outside funding, these very deserving children and young adults could not otherwise benefit from time with our ponies and horses. Being on the farm is a great way for these children to experience a sensory integrated, dynamic, and fun intervention that is geared towards their special needs.
This extremely generous gift from the Paramus Rotary has allowed Pony Power to say "yes" to Bergen County Special Services for another semester. Thank you, Paramus Rotary, and welcome back, Bleshman and Washington South!
