Volunteer

At three sisters farm we start our riders with a “lead walker” to control the horse, an instructor that walks along side the rider offering as much support as needed, and a “side walker” on the other side also offering as much support as needed. We require our volunteers to be at least 14 years of age, and be willing to commit 20 hours to us over time. We hold a mandatory training session for all new volunteers on the farm, explaining procedures, and offering an opportunity to familiarize themselves with our facility and horses. We ask all of our volunteers to help groom and tack our lesson horses, participate in the lessons as they are scheduled, and take the initiative to help out around the barn. Everyone is under full supervision at all times.

Side Walker: As a side walker, your responsibility is to walk alongside the rider while mounted, and provide as much or as little support as needed according to the instructor.

Lead Walker: As a lead walker your responsibility is being in control of the horse. You will follow the instructors directions and contribute as much help in steering and speed as directed.

Fundraising: As a non profit organization, fundraising is a crucial aspect. We have recently asked our volunteers to initiate fundraisers to support Pony Power, enlisting the help of their friends, families and schools. Please contact us in the office if you are interested in organizing a fundraiser.
